LOOKS like the women's PAC-10 Basketball Tournament will be held once again right here in San Jose for the fifth straight year. This year's fun and games will showcase influential Bay Area sports and political representatives and, of course, two formidable competitors on the court, No. 1-seeded Stanford and No. 3-seeded University of California. And that's not all; BAWSI, the Bay Area Women's Sports Initiative, will also be present. This phoenix organization created by athletes like Brandi Chastain and Judy Foudy, the ashes of the Women's United Soccer Association, and Marlene Bjornsrud, former general manager of the San Jose CyberRays, will host a variety of events such as College Sports Night 101 on Friday, March 2, an intro for those of you interested in a career in college athletics. The following night will be BAWSI Dad's and Daughters night where sports figures such as local soccer queen Brandi Chastain and football hero Ronnie Lott will speak about the influence fathers have in the growth and education of their daughters. Monday will be BAWSI Women's Leadership Night, a night of enlightenment with state Sen. Jackie Speier. So be sure to bring the family for hoops and inspiration.

PAC-10 Women's Basketball Tournament happens Friday-Monday, March 2-5, at HP Pavilion, 525 W. Santa Clara St., San Jose, $25; 408.998.TIXS.
