What do you do for a living?
Retired from my former profession, now following my bliss, as Joseph Campbell would say.

What would you be doing if you weren't doing that?
Working like a dog.

What do you do in your free time?
Work like a dog (for the things I'm passionate about). [Kaplan is executive director of the American Songbook Preservation Society.]

What brought you to Santa Cruz?
UCSC Junior transfer student 1976.

What's your favorite street?
"On the Street Where You Live"... in my case Via Medici.
